To impart advanced knowledge and skills in the field of animal sciences and its allied sectors.
To sensitize the students on conservation and protection of environment and biodiversity.
By encouraging the students to participate in animal Sciences related co-curricular activities.
By providing space for the students to learn through online platforms such as SWAYAM, edX, Coursera to update their knowledge.
By training the students in allied sectors of Animal Science such Poultry, Aquaculture and Dairy related industries in the course curriculum.
By igniting the minds towards critical thinking and research aptitude.
About the Department
The department of Zoology was established in 1942.
The department offers courses related to animal science in five programmes in three major system and also aquaculture related courses.
The department also offers single major programmes in Zoology and Aquaculture.
The department has started post-graduation in Zoology from the academic year 2016-2017
Students are being constantly encouraged by merit cash prizes for their proficiency in the subject, sponsored by philanthropists as follows

The department of Zoology and Aquaculture conducts Biospark to inspire and to create interest towards higher studies.
The department constantly conducting field trips to aqua farms, hatcheries and aqua food processing units. Students will be up skilled by Community service projects, short and long term internships to enhance their practical and employability skills.
Eight (8) faculty members are working in the department. Among them, five members are doctorates. Two of eight are guest faculty.
