Department of Telugu aims at the development of communicative skills, employability skills and also the development of good character, moral values and social responsibility among the students.
The department was established in 1944. A very Large number of students passed in Distinction. Good number of students got Prathibha Awards for their excellence in studies.Many eminent scholars, authors, poets and critics served as head of the department.
Department offered some certificate courses like Journalism, Spoken Kannada and Literature-Alankaaraas, Cinema Script Writing, Telugu Language – Technology, Critique of Short Stories, Kolatam, Computer Knowledge in Telugu which are very useful to students to enrich in knowledge and employment.
Department conducted workshops like Dialects, Job opportunities for Telugu studying students, Alankaras, Prayogaatmaka Natakaalu, Translation as Cultural Bridge, Translation Studies, Certificate courses on Writing skills training programme. These workshops are also very useful to students both in knowledge and employability.
Telugu students won Best Study Project awards in state level competitions. (Yuva Tharangam-2014 and Yuva Tharangam-2015). The students of the department at the state level competitions.
Department organized Avadhaanam, Literary Forum on “Aadhunika Katha Vikaasam”, International Seminar on “Samakaaleena Katha”, “National Movement–Experiences, Memories, Literature” State level student seminar on “Writers and their Social Responsibility” and District level Language quiz, Essay Writing, Elocution programmes. These are all student cantered programs and very useful to them in to enrich knowledge and creative thinking.]
We organise Telugu Language day and International Mother tongue day along with Birth anniversaries and memorial days of poets on this occasion.
We are running a quarterly magazine called “LaLit” as a work of College Literary Forum. The Lecturers of all Language Departments are participating in this activity.
