DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES 2022-2023

Workshop on Excel: A one day workshop on Microsoft Excel was conducted by the department of Mathematics on 25.6.2022. This workshop was designed to familiarize students with the basic commands in Excel with emphasis on data compilation and analysis. The workshop was a success and helped the students to improve their skills in using Microsoft Excel.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: Engage in Signage - Mark your quote: Pay tribute to Mother India through your signature

To commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the department organized the "Engage in Signage" program. Students were invited to express their gratitude to Mother India through quotes, poems, or songs alongside their signatures. Five subtopics were provided to inspire their creative expressions.

The program was inaugurated on August 2, 2022, at 3:30 PM by Smt. G. Raja Kumari, IAS Joint Collector of Guntur district. She led the way by signing the signboard with a quote from Gurajada Apparao's poem. Dr. Pola Bhaskar, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, also participated and emphasized the importance of following the spirit of freedom fighters for the benefit of future generations.

All students enthusiastically participated by signing the signboard and expressing their emotions. The program concluded successfully on August 15, 2022

Invited talk on “own your future as a software developer”

The department hosted a talk on "Own Your Future as a Software Developer" featuring Sri Ravi Chepuri, Associate Director at Cognizant Technology Solutions, Hyderabad. Mr. Chepuri shared valuable insights with the students, discussing the essential skills needed to succeed in the software industry.

Workshop:  The departments of Mathematics and Home Science jointly organized a two-day workshop titled "The Art and Science of Survey Design: Tools and Techniques for Successful Questionnaire Creation and Analysis" on April 20 and 21, 2023.

The workshop aimed to equip students with the fundamental knowledge of various data collection tools and statistical analysis techniques using Excel. This knowledge was crucial for the successful completion of their Community Service projects.

Dr. K.S. Purnima, Associate Professor at ANGRAU, LAM, Guntur, and Dr. Kiran Prakash, Professor of Statistics at ANGRAU, Guntur, served as the resource persons. Approximately 120 students benefited from this informative workshop.

Workshop on OBE: CO-PO Attainment Computation

The departments of Mathematics and English jointly conducted a two-day in-house capacity-building workshop on "OBE: CO-PO Attainment Computation" on May 2 and 3, 2023. This workshop was designed for all faculty members at Government College for Women (A), Guntur.

The workshop focused on identifying and addressing gaps in Outcome-Based Education (OBE) implementation and provided guidance on the process of measuring outcome attainment.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES 2021-2022

Webinar on Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences:

To commemorate National Mathematics Day 2021, the department organized a state-level webinar on "Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences" on December 21, 2021. The webinar aimed to introduce students to the mathematical methods and models covered in the undergraduate mathematics curriculum that have practical applications in various scientific fields.

Prof. C. Govardhan from Osmania University, Dr. D. Venkata Lakshmi, Professor of Computer Science at VIT Amaravathi, and Dr. M. Ganneswara Reddy, Professor of Mathematics at ANU, served as the esteemed resource persons. A total of 518 students and 59 faculty members from across the country participated in the webinar and gained valuable insights into the topic.

National Mathematics Day 2021

National Mathematics day was celebrated by the department on 22.12.20221. Faculty and students paid tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan. All mathematics students and faculty participated in the event.

Pi day:

The department commemorated Pi Day on March 14, 2022. To celebrate this special occasion, a scavenger hunt was organized for both Mathematics and non-Mathematics students. Additionally, a competition titled "Teach Mathematics with a Model" (TEAMMS) was held, involving primary school students and the general public. Prizes were awarded to the best-performing teams.

Guest Lecture:

The department hosted a guest lecture on "Error Analysis and Asymptotic Error Analysis of Euler and Runge-Kutta Methods" on May 28, 2022, for final-year Mathematics students. Dr. J. Kavitha, Associate Professor of Mathematics at DK Government Degree College, Nellore, served as the esteemed resource person. She provided a comprehensive explanation of various types of errors and their analysis using different methods.

National Mathematics Day 2020

National Mathematics day was celebrated by the department on 22.12.20221. Faculty and students paid tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan. All mathematics students and faculty participated in the event.

Collaborative Activity

As a part of MOU, Dr. J. Kavitha, lecturer in Mathematics delivered a 2 guest lectures at JMJ College for Women(A), Tenali and Sri. G.V. Bhaskar delivered guest lecture at KBN college, Vijayawada.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES 2019-2020

Visited Science Exhibition at KBN College, Vijayawada

Students and faculty from the department visited the Science Exhibition organized by KBN College, Vijayawada, on August 22, 2019. The students gained valuable insights from the various science models showcased at the exhibition.

Guest Lecture by Prof. B. Victor Babu

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics organized a guest lecture for all final-year Mathematics and Statistics students on August 28, 2019. Prof. B. Victor Babu from Acharya Nagarjuna University served as the esteemed resource person. He provided valuable insights into ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and its applications in data analysis.

Parent-Teacher Meeting

The department held a parent-teacher meeting on December 8, 2019, with the parents of Mathematics students. During the meeting, teachers discussed the students' academic performance with their respective parents. Principal Dr. Ch. Pulla Reddy informed the parents about the various academic and student support facilities available at the college.

Celebration of National Mathematics Day

The department commemorated National Mathematics Day on December 22, 2019. All Mathematics faculty and students paid tribute to the renowned Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The faculty members shed light on Ramanujan's life and significant contributions to the field of mathematics.
