The Department of Statistics commemorated National Statistics Day on June 29, 2023. Dr. D. Ramesh, Assistant Professor at ANGRAU Agricultural Extension College, Bapatla, served as the chief guest.
Dr. Ramesh shared valuable insights into Mahalanobis's life history and his significant contributions to the field of Statistics. He also emphasized the importance of National Statistics Day, celebrated annually on June 29th to honor the birth anniversary of P.C. Mahalanobis.
All faculty and students paid tribute to P.C. Mahalanobis, a renowned Statistician and considered the father of Indian Statistics.
The Department of Statistics, in collaboration with the National Sample Survey Organization, organized a quiz competition on September 6, 2023, for all statistics students in Guntur district. Six teams representing six colleges participated in the event.
The students from Government College for Women (A), Guntur, secured the first prize. R. Kiran Kumar, Deputy Director General of NSSO (FOD), Regional Office, distributed the prizes to the winning teams.
The department conducted a guest lecture on 6.9.2023 with R. Kiran Kumar, Dy. Director General, NSSO(FOD), Regional Office as resource person. He elaborated the functions, divisions of CSO, NSSO. All final and second year statistics students participated in the event
Guest Lecture on Factorial Experiments:
The Department of Statistics organized a guest lecture on September 9, 2022, featuring Dr. Sd. Jilani as the resource person. Dr.Jilani provided valuable insights into factorial experiments and their real-world applications.All final-year statistics students participated in the lecture, gaining valuable knowledge on this important topic.
Field trip to LAM:
All final year students of the department of Statistics visited an exhibition titled Ag Tech 2022 organized by ANGRAU, LAM on 3.12.2022. Students are exposed to various methods of Agricultural Statistics and related segments.
Quiz Competition Winners
Students from the Department of Statistics secured the first prize in the district-level competition organized by the National Statistical Survey on March 27, 2023. The winning team consisted of Sd. SabihaBhanu, ShailaAsmin, Meenakshi, Lavanya, and Aswini.
