Sai Sudha Kella working as Lecturer in Biotechnology at Govt. College for Women (A) in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. She entered the Government Services through APPSC direct recruitment 2013. She has worked in D.K. Govt. College for Women (A), nellore for 10 years befor transferring to Guntur. She holds a profound academic background, marked by her ongoing pursuit of a Ph.D. from Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam, Tirupathi, under the supervision of Ms. R. Usha, Professor in the Department of Biotechnology. Her doctoral research revolves around the influence of MSR Protein in Banana to enhance seed viability and seedling survival under abiotic stress conditions. This research adMsesses critical agricultural challenges through biotechnological interventions.
Ms. Kella's academic journey commenced with a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Pondicherry University, where she graduated with distinction in 2011 under the guidance of Ms. N. Sakthivel, the Head of the Department of Biotechnology. Her dissertation work during this period focused on diverse aspects of xylanolytic bacteria, including isolation, screening, molecular phylogeny analysis, optimization of fermentative conditions for xylanase production, as well as purification and characterization of xylanase enzymes. This foundational research laid the groundwork for her subsequent academic and research endeavors.
Prior to her master's degree, Ms. Kella completed her Summer Fellowship at the Institute of Life Science, University of Hyderabad, provided her with hands-on research experience under the mentorship of Ms. Nasreen Z. Ehtesham, focusing on cloning, expression, and protein-protein interaction studies using the pETDUET vector system.
Additionally, she was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR, New Delhi, for her research at the Department of Plant Science, University of Hyderabad, where she worked on activation tagging to identify novel genes for Drought resistance in rice under the supervision of Prof. P. B Kirti. Her academic prowess was further recognized through various scholarships and awards, including a merit scholarship from the Department of Biotechnology, India, during her master's course and first prizes for academic proficiency in both B.Sc. and in a Science Quiz competition at Pondicherry University.
Ms. Kella's academic achievements extend to national-level examinations, where she demonstrated exceptional performance. Notably, she secured the 105th rank in a nationwide examination conducted by GATE Indian Institute of Technology for the Ph.D. program in Life Science-2010 with a percentile of 99.4%. Her exceptional performance continued with the 39th rank in the all India examination conducted by CSIR in June 2011 for the Ph.D. Program, and the 89th rank in the all India exam conducted by JNU-CEEB-2009 for Masters in Biotechnology. Additionally, she qualified for the national entrance examination for the TATA Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR)-2012. Her academic excellence was also demonstrated by securing the 7th position in a nationwide examination for the masters program in Biochemistry at the University of Hyderabad in 2009.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Ms. Kella actively contributes to the academic community by participating as a judge and jury member in various competitions and events. She served as a judge for the District-level INSPIRE 2016 competition held in Nellore and acted as a jury member for the District-level INSPIRE MANAK AWARDS in both 2018 and 2019, demonstrating her commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and innovation at the grassroots level.
